Drake & Scull International Starts Work On Infinity Tower Developed By Cayan

Drake & Scull International PJSC (under incorporation) ( DSI or the Company ), a leading UAE service provider of mechanical, electrical and plumbing ( MEP ) contracting and civil contracting, today announced that work on Infinity Tower (the Tower ), developed by Cayan, is moving forward. DSI was originally awarded the contract in December 2006. The contract value is AED 145m, for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of complete MEP works. 

The contract was awarded by Cayan Investments & Development for the complete MEP works for the Tower. Infinity Tower is the world´s tallest high rise building with a twist of 90˚. Each floor is rotated by 1.2˚ to achieve the full 90˚ spiral, creating the shape of a helix. The Tower, which has won numerous awards including best architecture in the world at the international property awards in London, is designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merill; who are known for their iconic landmarks such as the Sears Tower in Chicago and Burj Dubai in Dubai.

At 330 metres, the Infinity Tower is the highest twisting tower in the world offers unobstructed views of Dubai Marina and the Arabian Gulf, incorporating a high-strength, reinforced concrete column superstructure that rotates with the twisting shape to create a helix. The tower will include a rooftop park, a health spa, a gymnasium, conference rooms, a cigar-room, a fully equipped nursery, an outdoor tennis court and other amenities. The main contractors for the Infinity Tower is Arabtec, one of the biggest construction companies in the region. 

Drake & Scull will manage the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of complete MEP works which includes Air Conditioning, Ventilation, Plumbing and Drainage, Building Management System, Automatic Fire Fighting, Power & Lighting, Telephone and Data, Fire Alarm System, Intercom System, Central Emergency Lighting, CCTV & Access Control Security Systems, & Lighting Control System.

DSI installs the essential core systems of buildings and is a market leader in the MEP and civil contracting sector. Some recent projects include Zayed University Women s Campus, Rashid Hospital Emergency and Trauma Centre, Shangri-La Abu Dhabi Hotel, Park Place Tower, Indigo Tower, Dubai Police Headquarters building, JBR District Cooling plant, and Dubai Festival City District Cooling scheme. DSI won MEP Contractor of the Year and Medium MEP Project of the Year titles in the 1st Middle East MEP Awards in December 2007.
